atlanta weekend wanderings: the atlanta jazz festival

Thousands of people took to Piedmont Park over Memorial Day weekend to enjoy the 40th year of the Atlanta Jazz Festival, one of the largest free jazz festivals in the country. On a warm but too-pretty-to-stay-indoors Saturday, I spent the afternoon hanging out and listening to talented jazz musicians. While the music was wonderful, I was more interested in people-watching. Once the crowds had filled up the field and the golden rays of the early evening sun descended upon us, I wandered through the maze of people spread out on blankets and in folding chairs, eating, drinking, relaxing. with My camera in hand, here's what I saw.
